Intel 13th Gen processors for laptops announced; Intel N series chips for low-end PCs

Intel 13th Gen processors are here and Intel is promising some big performance as well as efficiency gains here. Along with the 13th Gen processors, Intel has also announced the N-series processor for entry-level PCs. The new generation processors will be available in laptops and desktop PCs expected to launch over the next few months. Intel also updated its Evo platform framework and announced the Unison app for integrating Windows PCs better with Android and iOS devices.

The star of the Raptor Lake 13th Gen Core CPU lineup is the Core i9-13980HX processor, which Intel claims is the most powerful processor in its lineup. It features up to eight P cores and 16 efficiency cores. With a peak speed of 5.6GHz, a TDP of 55W, and support for up to 128GB of DDR5-5600 RAM as well as PCIe 5.0 connectivity. The HX series CPUs will be available across the Core i9, Core i7, and Core i5 tiers, and will be available across 60 laptops, showing the gains in performance.

For those not seeking the ultimate performance, Intel brings along the 45W H-series processors for content creators and gamers. Mainstream laptop users will be content with the new 28W P-series processors, and the 15W U-series processors. These chips will come with up to 14 cores along with the integrated Iris X graphics. Some of the processor models will also feature the Intel Movidius vision processing hardware, which is built for AI related workloads.

Then there's the Intel N-series processor which is simply a renamed version of the older Celeron and Pentium processors. Intel has assigned some of the models to the Core i3 lineup and the rest to the Intel Processor series.
