The criticially acclaimed horror game Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is being pulled from sale next week.
In a statement on the game’s official website, developer Blue Wizard Digital announced that the game would no longer be available starting from January 23.
“Today we must make a sad announcement – due to the inability to renew the license for Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle with the licensors, we have been required to wind down future sales of the game,” the statement reads.
“As of January 23rd, 2023, Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle be removed from the storefronts across all platforms.
“The game will be coming down from all storefronts (Steam, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Nintendo Switch eShop, Xbox One Store, and Playstation Store) on January 23rd, 2023. Once the deadline dates have passed, the Game and DLC will be unavailable from the storefronts.”
Players who have already downloaded the game or purchased its in-game content will continue to have access to it, the studio said.
Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is a spin-off of the studio’s horror puzzle title Slayaway Camp.
Based on the Friday the 13th slasher movie series, players take control of Jason Voorhees and have to kill a series of camp counsellors by sliding him along a series of obstacle-laden grids.
Fans of the game praised it for its numerous nods to the film series, as well as its healthy selection of skins and its sense of humour.
The game received a Metacritic rating of 80 on Xbox One and 76 on Switch, as well as a Very Positive rating on Steam
