Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson has confirmed that Legendary item drop rates are increased during Diablo IV's Open Beta test to provide a better player and testing experience. Fergusson replies to ongoing community concerns regarding the very high amount of Legendaries dropping during last week's Early Access Beta weekend.
For perspective, after beating Ashava for the first time, players were rewarded with up to 8 or 9 Legendary items alone, making the overall loot experience not so legendary at all. On the first kill, Ashava dropped 4 Legendaries.
Opening the «first kill» loot satchel rewarded us with another 4 Legendary items. We can also confirm based on our findings during December's PR build playtest that drop rates back then were a lot more in line with what you would expect as a measly Level 25 character on World Tier 2.
