I was very excited to buy ’s collaboration with Monty Python, but I and many players like me never got the chance. This new set of cards was one of products, which are periodically released online. Unlike most products, products are ordered directly from Wizards of the Coast and are one of the few ways players can get their hands on specific cards without having to go through the secondary market.
Unfortunately, recent changes to drops have made the cards far less accessible than in the past. Not only does this somewhat defeat the purpose of as a product, but it has also created a lot of frustration among players. has seemingly gone from a product that was perfect for players like myself, to one that will simply exacerbate some of the problems with collecting cards.
Magic: The Gathering's Bloomburrow set will release soon, bringing with it new cards, card treatments, and other special bonuses for players.
Until recently, drops were a made-to-order product. There was still a limited amount of time that players had to order them, but this usually meant a week or more, and there was no concern that they would sell out. This changed with the latest drop, which instead had a limited print run.
Due to the limited availability of these cards and the inclusion of a popular IP like, this drop ended up selling out pretty fast. I logged onto the site just a few hours after the sale had gone live, only to find that most of the products I wanted had already sold out. And I was far from the only player who had this experience.
Plenty of players had a similar experience, flooding the replies of the MTG Secret Lair Twitter account’s post about the drop to complain about how quickly it had sold out. Many requested a return to a print-on-demand model, while others expressed their disappointment that they were not notified soon enough by Wizards of the Coast’s alert emails.
