Humankind has been released today on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass. It is a surprise release considering Amplitude Studio and SEGA had not announced anything about Humankind console edition, following its indefinite delay last October. The game has been priced at €49.99, and is available digital only. However, a PS5 physical edition called Humankind Heritage Edition will be released on October 10th.
Humankind console edition includes both the base game, and the first two DLC packs. Those packs are Cultures of Africa and Cultures of Latin America. Combined, both packs add 12 cultures, 11 new wonders, 16 independent peoples, 30 narrative events, and 48 music tracks inspired by the various cultures of Africa and Latin America.
When Humankind console edition was delayed SEGA and Amplitude Studios released a statement saying, “We apologise for the inconvenience but rest assured that SEGA Europe, Amplitude Studios and Aspyr are working hard to bring the best possible HUMANKIND experience to console players. We can’t give a timeframe on a new release date right now, but as soon as we are in a position to do so, we will let everyone know and we thank the community for their continued support and understanding.”
We reviewed the PC version when it launched and scored the game an impressive 9/10. “Humankind is as deep as you could possibly want from a 4X strategy game, but the constant addition of new things to think about never feels overwhelming because everything’s explained so well, and often with a good bit of humour too,” said Jason. “It’s an excellent game, and if you’ve never delved into the 4X genre before, this might be your best chance to do so.”
