September 2023’s PlayStation Plus Essentials line-up will reportedly be headlined by 2022’s Saints Row reboot.
That’s according to Dealabs user billbil-kun, who has been accurately revealing the PlayStation Plus line-ups almost every month for the past two years.
According to the user, PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim Saints Row, as well as two further as-yet-unnamed titles, from September 5 to October 3. It’s claimed the official announcement of the September 2023 PS+ Plus selection will take place on August 30.
PlayStation Plus subscribers have until September 4 to claim August’s Essential titles. They include PGA Tour 2K23 (PS5, PS4), Dreams (PS4) and Death’s Door (PS5, PS4).
Volition’s Saints Row reboot first released for consoles and PC (via the Epic Games Store) in August 2022. A Steam version was released this month, as well as the game’s third piece of DLC content.
VGC’s Saints Row review labelled the game a “buggy, dull mess”, and it currently has scores of 61-65 on the review aggregation site Metacritic.
Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors previously said he was personally disappointed by the reception to Saints Row, when he spoke during Embracer’s AGM in September.
“Personally, I had hoped for a greater reception to the game,” he said at the time. “It’s been very polarising. There are a lot of things that could be said in detail around it, but I’m with one hand happy to see lots of gamers and fans happy, and at the same time I’m a bit sad to also see fans not happy, so it’s difficult.”
