Hulu has officially set the cast for its newest comedy movie, which will serve as actress-turned-filmmaker Jillian Bell‘s feature directorial debut.
“In the film, an awkward high school senior hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation, leading to unexpected friendship and lessons in self-confidence, acceptance, and adulthood,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Paula Pell (Girls5eva), Liza Koshy (A Family Affair), Nicole Byer (Nailed It!), Sam Morelos (That ’90s Show), Natalie Morales (The Morning Show), Alex Moffat (Saturday Night Live), Matt Cornett (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Fernando Carsa (Acapulco) and Amalia Yoo (Grand Army) have been tapped to star in the Hulu comedy Summer of 69. Further details about their characters remained under wraps. Production is expected to begin sometime this month in Syracuse, New York.
“It’s always been my dream to direct and I am thrilled to be telling a story about female friendship with a cast of the most talented and funny humans,” Bell said in a statement (via Deadline).
Summer of 69 will be directed by Bell from a screenplay she co-wrote with Liz Nico and Jules Byrne. The film will be produced by Jeremy Garelick, Will Phelps, and Molle DeBartolo for American High, along with Breanna Bell-Singer, Adam Goodman, Matt Skiena, and Lucas. It is a production by American High as part of its overall deal with the streamer.
