Marvel Comics shows what would happen if Thor was involved in the Gamma bomb experiment that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk, as the potentially strongest Avenger and combination hero who just debuted. In Hulk #7 by Marvel Comics, Thor attempts to stop Hulk as his Gamma loses control, resulting in an explosion that merges the two heroes into one Hulk/Thor combination monster.
Thor has taken to space to track down the Hulk, as the Avengers are trying to track down the augmented Starship Hulk and bring him to justice for an attack where Bruce Banner lost control, leaving many dead in El Paso. Thor and Hulk are duking it out on the Black Hand of God, where Iron Man has joined the fight in his Celestial Hulkbuster armor, as the hero intends on taking down the Jade Giant by any means necessary. However, as Thor and Tony Stark both found out, defeating the enhanced version of the Hulk is a monumental task, even when well-equipped to do so.

In Hulk #7 by Donny Cates, Martin Coccolo, Matt Wilson, and VC's Joe Sabino, Iron Man tries to stop the Hulk but is knocked down by Thor's Odin-enhanced Mjolnir. After apologizing for Mjolnir going rogue, Thor and Iron Man continue their attack on the Hulk, as even the «Celestial judgment of a hundred thousand exploding stars» isn't enough to take the monster down. However, after Mjolnir pins Hulk, the Jade Giant's Gamma powers rise to deadly levels, as the hero explodes as Thor reaches for his hammer. When the dust settles, a combination hero of Hulk and Thor, potentially the strongest Avenger ever, rises.
