There are over 170 playable wrestlers in WWE 2K22, but several of the wrestlers must be unlocked through various methods. Some wrestlers will come unlocked as a part of the specific edition of the game that is purchased. Others can be purchased through in-game currency, while more require specific challenges to unlock.
WWE 2K22 provides the opportunity for players to use virtual currency known as “VC” in the 2K gaming world to unlock some wrestlers. VC can be earned in-game through just playing matches in any game mode, but it can also be purchased to accelerate the process.

WWE 2K22 also has a few game modes that are used to unlock wrestlers. MyRISE game mode provides a few extra wrestlers that are not a part of the game’s original roster. However, these wrestlers can only be used within the MyRISE game mode and not in any other mode. The 2K Showcase mode this year is focused on the career of Rey Mysterio and will allow the player to unlock wrestlers through completing certain challenges.
There are three different editions of WWE 2K22 that can be purchased. The standard edition provides all the wrestlers included with the game, while needing to purchase and unlock others. The deluxe edition includes the Season Pass, which will provide the player with access to all five of the DLC packs throughout the year and includes the SuperCharger Pack. Finally, the nWo 4-Life edition includes the Season Pass and unlocks five playable nWo versions of “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Syxx, and Eric Bischoff.
