Applin is a Gen 8 Pokémon that originally was introduced with two evolutionary forms, Appletun and Flapple, but in 's DLC,, Applin has a new evolutionary form, Dipplin. Despite that there are three different evolutionary forms for Applin, all three are the same Grass/Dragon type and each one requires a special item.
Whereas the Flapple requires a Tart Apple item and Appletun requires a Sweet Apple, the Dipplin evolution requires a new item that can be found easily in the DLC. The item required to evolve Applin into Dipplin is a Syrupy Apple. This item can be used to evolve Applin at any point and only costs 500 coins.
Before evolving Applin, players will actually need to have an Applin. Though Applin can be caught in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet's base game, it can also easily be found in the DLC in a pretty obvious location. Slightly to the west of the welcome center, players should find an Apple Tree Farm, Apple Hills.
As expected, there will be several Applin found wandering around this area including one very obvious glowing one, so grab any that you see, and then you'll be ready to go track down the Syrupy Apple item.
The Syrupy Apple Item can be found in one specific location in the Kitakami region. However, before heading over to it, be sure to have at least 500 coins on hand as it will require that much money to purchase it. Luckily money can be earned quickly in by selling something at the shop or battling any of the available trainers in the region.
