Star Wars Eclipse stunned fans with its glossy cinematic reveal trailer in late 2021. Now, almost two years on, developer Quantic Dream has nothing to show for it, as we're yet to get any more details on the game, let alone a look at how it actually plays. Now, Quantic Dream is having to reassure us that the game "still exists", it's just "simmering" for now, whatever that means.
This comes after a reportedly troubled development, with Quantic Dream said to be struggling to retain staff. This has been linked to previous complaints that the studio has a toxic work environment, as well as claims that its boss, David Cage, likes to throw around homophobic and sexist slurs. Perhaps due to this, the company still has many vacancies open, supporting claims that it's struggling to recruit devs to work on Star Wars Eclipse.

After being a no-show during showcase season yet again, IGN asks Lisa Pendse, VP of marketing for Quantic Dream, how development is going.
“Can I say it still exists? Because it exists,” says Pendse. “It's just not ready. It's simmering.” She didn't comment on the state of the game outside of this, giving us no further insight into its development, or when we can expect to hear some news from the project.
In the short time Star Wars Eclipse has been known to the public, it has already found itself mired in controversy.
