Building a Rocket Radar will allow you to try and beat the devious members of Team Rocket in in battle, including the calm and calculated Sierra. This leader of the infamous criminal organization has a team of strong Pokémon that can be a difficult challenge for any trainer. Deadly Shadow Pokémon on Sierra's roster can easily be a match for even the best pocket monsters in your collection.
Defeating other Team Rocket grunts will give you the items you need to construct a Rocket Radar needed to face Sierra. This Team Rocker leader, along with Arlo and Cliff in , only appears in a Pokéstop or Rocket Balloon when you have this device in the game. Taking down all three of these trainers will allow you to eventually challenge their leader, the elusive Giovanni.
Some Team Rocket trainers use special creatures called Shadow Pokémon, which can be stronger variants of the normal pocket monsters you already know.
Just like the battle against Sierra in February 2024 for , there are three waves total for this battle with some familiar and different Pokémon. Sierra always sends Shadow Tentacool, a Water/Poison-type Pokémon, in for the first wave of the fight. From there, she has a chance to send a variety of different creatures that have changed from the previous month to this time of writing.
There are three possible choices Sierra could use for both the second and third waves, so you need to plan for each accordingly. The typings for these Pokémon don't follow one pattern, making it difficult to adapt depending on your luck. You could end up facing the powerful Water-type Milotic, which has very few weaknesses, or the Grass-type Victreebell whose vulnerabilities are easier to exploit.
