During week 3, Big Brother 24 contestant Daniel Durston attacked Taylor Hale, holding her responsible for Paloma Aguilar's exit, but Paloma's own words prove that Daniel was wrong. During Big Brother week 1, Paloma turned the house against Taylor, and attempted to have her backdoored. Viewers noticed the microaggressions directed toward Taylor, a Black woman, by the other houseguests, and sympathized with her feelings of isolation. However, when Paloma self-evicted due to living with mental health issues in the house, Taylor was safe for the week.
In the second week, Taylor survived the Big Brother Chopping Block, when the house blindsided Joe «Pooch» Pucciarelli and voted him out unanimously. She was thrilled to not be nominated in week 3 by the new Head of Household, Matt «Turner» Turner. However, she did not know that she was once again being targeted as a possible backdoor plan.

As part of the Festie Bestie twist, Nicole Layog paired herself with Taylor, with the thought that she could go on the block with Taylor, and the house would easily vote her out. However, plans changed when Turner and some of the other houseguests realized that Taylor could be an asset to their game, and their new target is Ameerah Jones. When Nicole was struggling with her feelings about manipulating Taylor, she was crying. Taylor, who did not know why Nicole was upset, attempted to comfort her by telling her that if she ever felt that she had to «tap out of the fight, don't even consider me.» Although Taylor meant that Nicole should not push herself too hard for Taylor's sake as her Festie Bestie partner, Nicole took it to mean that Taylor was passive aggressively telling
