Controversial Big Brother houseguest Daniel Durston is facing backlash from Twitter fans after an explosive verbal attack towards fellow houseguest Taylor Hale. Daniel won the first Head of Household (HOH) of the season, then worked with Paloma to blindside Taylor in the first eviction vote. Taylor, a former Miss Michigan USA, immediately became a fan favorite as the house ostracized her. At the first eviction night of the season, the house was shocked when Paloma self-evicted for mental health reasons, and an outpouring of support from social media echoed similar mental health conversations in the house.
During his first week, Daniel made a final two deal with Nicole Layog to vote Taylor out, and the pair doubled down when Paloma's exit ensured Taylor's safety. To support this ongoing plan, Nicole chose Taylor during the season's new “Festie Bestie’s Twist,” which meant that pairs of players would compete together and could be nominated together but would be evicted separately. Nicole worked with Daniel and the new HOH to nominate pawns and backdoor Taylor. Nicole decided to throw the competition to sabotage Taylor after they were picked to play against undefeated Veto champion Michael but cried in her room over her sacrifice to Daniel's plan.
