Over the years, Big Brother has showcased a number of unpleasant personalities entering the house, but few have been as reviled by the show's passionate fanbase as season 24's Daniel Durston. A 35-year-old Elvis impersonator from Las Vegas, Daniel entered the house with a decent amount of goodwill from the fans. He's said that he's a big fan of the show, and even mentioned his love of Big Brother Canada. as well as his obsession with Big Brother podcasts, during his pre-game press interviews.
However, Daniel's popularity with the fanbase waned considerably in week one, when, as Head of Household, he targeted Taylor Hale for eviction. Initially reluctant to nominate her, Daniel acquiesced to the will of the majority of the house, who had ostracized, belittled, and insulted Taylor behind her back for the entire week. Big Brother star Taylor was saved on eviction night due to the unexpected exit of Paloma Aguilar, who was one of the galvanizing forces behind Taylor's isolation. She left the game for personal reasons, canceling the eviction.

Since his HOH reign, Daniel has further plummeted in popularity, making headlines for being one of the truly loathed houseguests in the history of Big Brother. The primary cause of the vitriol toward Daniel is his troubling personal fixation on Taylor, which has grown significantly since the first week.
