The big Honkai Star Rail 2.0 update has been detailed by developer HoYoverse today. This new patch is being dubbed 'If One Dreams At Midnight' and will be released on February 6 on all platforms.
Its most prominent feature is the addition of a brand new realm called Penacony. Story-wise, the Crew was invited by The Family to travel there so that they might attend the Charmony Festival.
According to the lore of Honkai Star Rail, Penacony used to be a frontier prison. However, the planet transformed into a premiere vacation spot under the control of The Family. It is now known as the 'Planet of Festivities' of the Asdana star system. There's a gigantic hotel, the Reverie, where celebrities from all over the universe are gathered. Of course, not all as it is seems, as noted by Technical Lead Yang Yu:
[...] the magic of The Reverie goes beyond its exterior. Once the guests have checked in, returning to their rooms, and succumbing to slumber, the true adventure unfurls. Safeguarded by The Family, guests will be able to traverse between the planes of reality and the Dreamscape, facilitated by a unique sleep device known as the Dreampool.
In the Honkai Star Rail 2.0 update, players will eventually unlock the ability to Dreamwalk, allowing them to defy gravity and walk on walls and ceilings. Throughout the story, they will encounter 5-star characters Black Swan and Sparkle, as well as 4-star character Misha.
The new patch also aims to organize the game's storyline through the Fate's Atlas feature, which will chronicle the events and plot lines that occur in each world by unit in chronological order. The enhancement process for Relics has been streamlined, and HoYoverse also added Relic set recommendations for various characters. Lastly, marking, discarding, and salvaging Relics will now be far easier.
