Psychopathic superhero Homelander has been confirmed as a guest fighter for Mortal Kombat 1 by the official TikTok account for The Boys TV show.
It came within the comments section on a TikTok video that was actually promoting a collaboration with Call of Duty, with user Silly goose asking “COD AND POSSIBLY MK???? WWWWW” to which the show’s account replied “MK confirmed”.
However, there’s no further details beyond that, with a follow up message simply stating that “Homelander will be available [in Mortal Kombat 1] at some point. That’s all we can say”.
This exchange was picked up by Idle Sloth on Twitter.
Similar to the inclusion of The Terminator, RoboCop, Rambo and Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11, Homelander will likely be added to Mortal Kombat 1 as part of a character-filled Kombat Pack that will trickle out a character at a time post-launch. Who will Homelander get to face off against? We’ll have to wait until NetherRealm make some more formal announcements on their DLC plans, especially as they’re still announcing characters.
The narrative behind Mortal Kombat 1 sees the fire god Liu Kang remaking the Mortal Kombat universe, allowing NetherRealm to reimagine the series’ classic cast of characters – Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung and Johnny Cage were confirmed early on, with Lin Kuei, Rain Smoke and others announced last week. With this being a rebooted universe, there’s plenty room for NetherRealm to play with the timelines, the interplay between characters and more.
