Helldivers 2 continues to improve on its player figures. After easily topping God of War off the first spot when it comes to PlayStation launches on Steam, the cooperative sci-fi third-person shooter peaked at 155K concurrent users yesterday.
What about total sales, though? Well, Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 Creative Director Johan Pilestedt provided an update on that front, too, tweeting that the game has sold around one million units, with around an even split between PC and PlayStation 5 users. When prompted about the incredible success of Palworld, he said:
If we have half the success, I will be very happy! And I wish the Pals Team all the best success on a fantastic game!
Pilestedt then commented on a variety of topics. When a user praised the game's non-aggressive monetization, he replied:
"You have to earn the right to monetize" - I truly believe that. If people want to support this title, they have an option, but we are never forcing anyone to do so.
He revealed that helmets having different properties was one of the features Arrowhead had to cut from Helldivers 2:
It's actually one of the features that (unfortunately) had to be cut on the drawing board. Each helmet was supposed to have a visual trait or other boon (range finders, enemy stats, trajectory prediction, flashlight, night vision, etc.)
Larger 'raids' are a possibility, albeit a difficult one to realize, for the future of the game:
Agree it would be amazing! It actually exists in the "wild ideas but probably too hard to do" section of future content. It comes down to network traffic and assumptions in regards to how the game is built
