To say that Haunted Chocolatier, the next offering from Stardew Valley creator Eric «Concerned Ape» Barone, is eagerly anticipated would be an epic understatement. First discussed back in 2017, the wait has been a torturous one indeed, with still no hint of a release date in sight.
Some small relief is here, thankfully, in the form of screenshots released by Barone in celebration of reaching 1 million followers on Twitter. You can see them below in all their pixel art glory, and connoisseurs will note the familiar style has matured like a fine wine.

We know very little about the game, save what we learned from an early gameplay trailer. The trappings seem similar, with the focus this time being on making chocolate and running a chocolate shop, a process presumably complicated by ghosts. Of course, there was a lot more to Stardew Valley than simply farming, so what we've seen so far likely doesn't even scratch the surface.
Barone has ceased work on Haunted Chocolatier presently in order to push out the ambitious 1.6 update for Stardew Valley, the latest in a long line of updates that have enhanced the core game immensely. We're sure Barone will support his next outing just as dutifully whenever it's finally ready.
