It's not quite the Steam Deck 2, but Valve's just announced Steam Deck refresh comes with a brand new OLED screen and a couple notable hardware improvements.
As powerful as the Steam Deck is, it doesn't have the beefiest specs on the block, which has had fans of the otherwise enjoyable device already clamoring for a new version with updated hardware.
The announcement of the Steam Deck OLED isn't quite that, a Steam Deck 2 is a bit of a ways off according to Valve, but it does bump things up with a larger, 7.4" HDR OLED screen capable of a 90hz refresh rate (though the 1200x800 resolution still remains), a Wi-Fi 6E module, 30-50% more battery life, and weighs about 5% lighter at 30g.
Pre-orders for the Steam Deck OLED go live next week on November 16 at 10AM Pacific. Gamers can select between two storage options: 512GB and 1TB, which are priced at $549 and $649 respectively. Valve is also releasing a limited edition translucent 1TB version of the device priced at $679.
The LCD version of the Steam Deck is being discontinued and permanently discounted on all three available models, with pricing as follows:
Steam Deck LCD 64GB — $349 (was $399)
Steam Deck LCD 256GB — $399 (was $529)
Steam Deck 512GB — $449 (was $649)
