Today, just ahead of its official trailer release, the premiere date for the Halo television series has been announced. The series, which is being developed to stream exclusively on Paramount+, is based on the popular Halo video game series, which premiered on the XBOX platform in 2001. For over 20 years, the first-person shooter games, which follow a group of elite soldiers battling against an alien menace known as the Covenant, have been among the platform's leading games, with the helmeted super-soldier Master Chief becoming their de facto mascot.
The series will be taking a different path from the games, exploring the human side of Master Chief along with the expected sci-fi action sequences. The character will be played by Pablo Schreiber, who has held major roles in other series including the streaming giant Orange is the New Black on Netflix and the Neil Gaiman adaptation American Gods on Starz. The cast of the Halo show also includes Natascha McElhone as Dr. Catherine Halsey, Yerin Ha as Kwan Ha, Charlie Murphy as Makee, Shabana Azmi as Admiral Margaret Parangosky, and Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066.
