Master Chief's helmet is probably the most iconic piece of armor in all gaming, up there alongside Mario's cap and Link's tunic as pieces of clothes that instantly bring to mind the franchises they appear in. Halo has made use of Master Chief's helmet many times over the years for dramatic reveals and marketing purposes, but it seems to be something the Halo TV show isn't too keen on doing.
The premiere date for Halo's second season was revealed today, along with a trailer and a couple of posters. The original season already riled up fans for showing us Master Chief's face, something that hasn't happened in the Halo games for its entire history, but Season 2 has already managed to wind up fans by how little the helmet shows up in promotional material.
One particular image is currently the subject of anger from Halo fans, that being an image of a helmetless Master Chief with a soldier over his shoulder while he trudges across a chaotic battlefield. You can see the image embedded below, including a tweet from Twitter user TheBoysUnknown, complaining that the poster looks like a "generic sci-fi war movie/show" if you removed the Halo logo, and confused as to why Paramount has left out the "strongest and instantly recognizable part" of the brand.
Fans are just as angry and confused on the Halo subreddit, as an edit of the same poster, but with Master Chief wearing a helmet, has racked up thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments.
