A project related to the Half-Life series known as White Sands is currently in the works, according to rumors circulating online.
As reported by well-known Valve leaker Tyler McVicker, based on datamined information obtained from Source 2-powered games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2, a new project related to the series and to the HLX codename datamined a while back is in active development. This White Sands project seems to be a PC-only project at this time, has elements of the Half-Life series, such as an HEV suit charger plug, and won't be a VR project like Alyx. The leaker speculates that this project, which has been in the works for a while, could be Half-Life 3, although there isn't any evidence at the moment to back this.
The latest entry in the series is the aforementioned Half-Life Alyx, a VR game that can also be played without a headset thanks to the incredible NoVR mod, which also preserves some of the VR interactions to provide players with an accurate experience even on a flat screen.
Despite being in the works for some time, it may take a while to hear more about this Half-Life White Sands project. We will keep you updated as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
