The first trailer for GTA 6 has reached almost 60 million views on YouTube in around 12 hours.
The trailer was supposed to debut today, but was released early on Monday following a leak.
Since then the trailer has managed to amass almost 60 million views on YouTube, with the count rising by around 5,000 views every few seconds (according to YouTube’s on-screen count, which can sometimes be out of date).
In comparison, Rockstar‘s official upload of thefirst trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 has racked up 96 million views over the past 12 years, meaning GTA 6’s trailer is on course to potentially overtake it in one day.
While it’s worth noting that YouTube is a far larger platform in 2013 than it was when the original GTA 5 trailer was released, the sheer popularity of the trailer for Rockstar’s new game is unprecedented, and has also been viewed millions of times across Rockstar’s other social platforms.
At the time of writing, the trailer has a 97% positive like-to-dislike ratio on YouTube, with over 6.8 million likes and 200,000 dislikes. The video has also amassed more than half a million comments.
