was a bit unhappy after hearing legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino say that the longtime actor was no longer a big-time movie star.
Speaking to GQ during a recent joint cover story alongside Brad Pitt, Clooney took some playful shots at Tarantino, who he said “irritated” him by not calling him a movie star.
According to Clooney, Tarantino took some shots at him in a recent interview where he mentioned movie stars. When Clooney was brought up, Tarantino said Clooney hadn’t done anything since the millennium, which the actor took offense to.
“Quentin said some s— about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him,” Clooney said. “He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about [Brad], and somebody else, and then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?’ He goes, he’s not a movie star. And then he literally said something like, ‘Name me a movie since the millennium.’ And I was like, ‘Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole f—— career.’”
Clooney ended the segment by taking some more playful shots at Tarantino, saying that he doesn’t mind giving him some guff after Tarantino’s words. “So now I’m like, all right, dude, f— off. I don’t mind giving him s—,” Clooney joked before adding that he was lucky to work with such great directors.
Clooney’s legendary acting career spans more than four decades, and as the actor said, the bulk of his high-profile roles came in the 2000s. From 2000-2016, Clooney starred in films like The Ocean’s franchise, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Perfect Storm, Michael Clayton, Burn After Reading, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Gravity, and Hail, Caesar!
The actor is also set to star alongside Brad Pitt in the upcoming action comedy Wolfs and is also starring in the upcoming untitled coming-of-age comedy drama from Noah Baumbach.
