Genshin Impact brings new map extensions with almost every new update that arrives. The previous Version 2.6 has introduced the Chasm region which is rumored to serve as a bridge between Liyue and a new major region named Sumeru.
Sumeru has been mentioned in the game on numerous occasions and many NPCs describe it as a mysterious land filled with deserts and forests. A new Genshin Impact leak has given additional information about Sumeru and its position on the map.

One of the most credible leakers, GenshinBLANK, has apparently revealed more information about the upcoming Sumeru region. He has tweeted an interesting picture showing the location of the new region on the current map, but it should be noted that the top right part is most likely empty. When it comes to its size, the leaker confirmed that the entire Sumeru region will be bigger than Liyue which is the largest main nation in the game at the moment. They also revealed that, similarly to Inazuma, players won't have the whole region unlocked in the first Sumeru update.
When it comes to Sumeru's release date, multiple rumors have been hinting that the Genshin Impact Version 2.8 will most likely be the last Inazuma update which means that 3.0 should arrive at the end of August. Sumeru's arrival has become the main topic in the Genshin Impact community, even though the upcoming update 2.8 will add the fan-favorite Golden Appel Archipelago Summer event. One of the main reasons why there is so much hype around Sumeru is probably the fact that it will introduce the long-awaited Dendro element.
Out of seven different elements in Genshin Impact, Dendro is the only one that is not part of a character's kit at the moment.
