Genshin Impact's Inazuma arc is coming to an end which means that the arrival of a new major region is just around the corner. The official live stream event for Version 2.8 has revealed a small teaser, officially confirming the Genshin Impact story is heading for Sumeru.
Sumeru's representative element is Dendro which means that the upcoming updates will introduce the game's first Dendro characters. Recent Genshin Impact leaks have already revealed several new characters that will most likely join the playable roster.
Genshin Impact 2.8 Leak Reveals Four-star Characters For Kazuha and Klee Banners
A brand new Genshin Impact leak has revealed the model of one of the upcoming characters — Al Haitham. He will apparently be a brand-new Dendro character that should arrive in one of the upcoming updates. There is not a lot of information about him other than being a five-star DPS character who holds a high-ranking position in the new Sumeru region, similar to Yae Miko's role in Inazuma. He is most likely based on an Arab scientist named Hasan Ibn al-Haytham which makes sense considering that each major region in the game is based on a real-life location and culture. According to numerous rumors, the new Sumeru region is inspired by the culture of Southwest Asia and the Middle East.
Another interesting fact about Al Haitham is that his design is apparently based on a Honkai Impact 3rd character named Su. This would not be the first time for developer HoYoverse to take inspiration for a character design from its second most popular title. Popular Genshin Impact characters like Yae Miko, Venti, or Raiden Shogun all have their respective counterparts in the other game.
