Genshin Impact has introduced a pattern of adding one major region per year with the islands of Inazuma being the most recent addition. Over the last couple of months, the community has been speculating about the new nation that should arrive with the next major update.
Developer HoYoverse has finally confirmed the arrival of the mysterious region named Sumeru as part of the new Genshin Impact arc. The new region is home to the popular Dendro Archon which means that the Dendro element will soon become playable.

A popular Genshin Impact leaker named GI Font has revealed the map of Teyvat including the brand new Sumeru region which is expected to arrive in Genshin Impact update 3.0. The new region will be placed Southwest of Chasm which confirms the previous leaks that Chasm serves as a bridge between Liyue and Sumeru. Sumeru has been described as a colorful region filled with deserts and rainforests, however, the recently released teaser has only revealed the rainforest part of the region. While the left side of Sumeru seems to be hidden, the sand-like color indicates that players will unlock Sumeru's deserts in later updates.
Players seem excited about the large map extension as rumors claim that Sumeru will most likely be the largest nation in all of Teyvat. It will also introduce a brand-new element to the Genshin Impact's unique combat system which will have a significant impact on the current character meta. The first Sumeru update will bring three Dendro characters, including the Dendro version of the Traveler.
