Players have had their first glimpse at the next Apex Legends character, ‘Vantage’.
As noticed by several players, Respawn seemed to accidentally upload the character’s “Stories from the Outlands” video early, which gives players some backstory about the upcoming hero.
An image promoting the video appeared in the Apex Legends client, although no players have reported actually being able to watch the video so far. The image has been removed from the client.
“There’s a new instalment of Stories from the Outlands!,” reads the accompanying text. “Watch Survive and meet the new Legend joining the Games in Apex Legends: Hunted, coming August 9”.
This image and accompanying text seem to confirm information about the legend that appeared in a large data leak earlier this year.
Named Vantage, the next hero will include a “winged companion” according to the information and will be primarily a ranged character, making use of a sniper rifle.
In other Apex news, Respawn is working on a new single-player FPS set in the Apex Legends universe, jobs ads have revealed.
As spotted by Dexerto, several job listings for Respawn’s “Apex Universe FPS incubation project” have appeared, describing the in-development game as “a brand new Respawn single-player adventure”.
“This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits,” one job ad reads.
It’s unclear if the project is related to the unannounced single-player project Respawn first confirmed it was working on last year.
Apex Legends Mobile is estimated to have generated almost $5 million through player spending during its first week of availability.
