Genshin Impact Characters That Should Be Couples (& Why They Won’t)
Some character relationships could evolve into fully-fledged romance, but developer HoYoverse is unlikely to actually allow that to happen. Many of the Traveler’s allies across the world of Teyvat not only know each other but have ongoing friendships among themselves. Although not explicitly detailed, a few of the characters in these relationships have shown minor traits and behaviors that allow for speculation on the true nature of their bonds.
The most obvious example among the community is Captain Beidou and Ningguang’s unprecedented alliance and constant flirting. Nevertheless, there are more character relationships that are also worthy of romantic options. Even the recently-introduced character, Alhaitham, is in a relationship with his roommate that could veer into romance.

Among all the character dynamics and interactions, Beidou and Ningguang are the ones that most indicate being an actual couple in. They were initially introduced as complete opposites and almost as enemies, as Beidou’s actions go against the rules of the Liyue Qixing. However, their constant bickering seems to be more of an indication for how close they actually are.
Once players defeat Osial and the new Jade Chamber is under construction, Ningguang mentions how she compensates Beidou “” for helping in the retrieval of some pieces lost in the sea, as registered by LyurGG on YouTube. In 2021’s Moonchase Merriment in , they are disagreeing with each other severely, but later Xiangling mentions that Beidou tells her about how well she gets along with Ningguang, and how they play chess together aboard the Alcor.
