A new trailer has been released for the two Fullmetal Alchemist sequels showcasing their large, growing casts. The films, titled Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Avenger Scar and Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Last Transmutation, will conclude the story started with the 2017 live-action adaptation of the wildly popular manga series by Hiromu Arakawa. The sequels were first announced to commemorate the original manga's 20th anniversary. Though the first film was successful, some, including the original anime's director Seiji Mizushima, were critical of its casting.
The new trailer from Warner Bros. shows off an impressive 15 characters. Returning are stars Ryōsuke Yamada (Assassination Classroom) and Atomu Mizuishi (Mashin Sentai Kiramager) as brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are searching for the Philosopher's Stone to return them to their bodies. One of the trailer's more prominently featured characters is Japanese-American actor Mackenyu as alchemist killer Scar, one of the main antagonists to the brothers. Mackenyu is known for roles in Pacific Rim: Uprising, the romantic Chihayafuru trilogy, and will soon appear in the upcoming Netflix One Piece adaptation.
