Over the years, Evo has become more than just the world's biggest fighting game event: it's now a prime venue for publishers and developers to get the word out about their latest projects. It's a bit like E3, but with a specific focus on fighting games.
And with Evo 2023 — which begins on the 4th August — it sounds like we're getting plenty of reveals and updates. The official schedule has been made public, and fans can look forward to a live showcase that covers the entire first day of streaming. Said showcase will be made up of developer panels, with titles like Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter 6, and Tekken 8 all getting the nod. The schedule also promises surprise announcements, just to keep you on your toes.
You can definitely expect a number of character reveals, and, if we're lucky, one or two release dates (we're looking at you, Tekken 8).
Of course, this showcase is just a single side of Evo. The rest of the three-day event will see many of the world's most skilled fighting game players go head-to-head in huge tournaments. Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Strive, and Street Fighter 6 — in that order — are all wrapping up on the main stage, on the final day.
