Frontier Developments’ RTS Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is getting an open beta next month, with new footage of the upcoming title unveiled this weekend.
The Frontier team is making Age of Sigmar in partnership with Games Workshop, looking to bring a single player campaign as well as multiplayer options for 1v1 and 2v2 competitive cross platform play.
The RTS will have its first open beta from July 7th through July 10th on all platforms, and will include the Stormcast Eternals and the Orruk Kruleboyz as playable factions. A new trailer debuted over the weekend, showing off some of the campaign and gameplay and featuring those two factions in action.
Each of the factions is designed to have their different strengths and weaknesses, and designed to evolve over the course of battles, so you'll want to strategize to keep your units going and to give them the best chance for success, getting resources, building bastions, and continuing to make inroads.
Expect to see units like Liberators, Vanguard Raptors, and even Prosecutors, sending celestial hammers down and the Stormdrake Guard, bathing the battlefield with fire. Or if you’re playing the Orruks, use your Gutrippaz melees quads, the Boltboyz, and even get the chance to bring monsters like the Mirebrute Troggoth into battle if you last long enough.
The trailer is brief but we can see some of the units and some of the ways that the game will use the two factions. Of course, if you sign up for the beta test, you'll get a much deeper look in just about a month.
Set for release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, The beta test will be available on all platforms, with a second open beta to come later this
