Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is out today on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. The first-ever RTS in the Warhammer universe is from Frontier Developments, widely known for titles like Elite Dangerous. The new RTS offers four factions, a single player campaign, and multiplayer modes.
The campaign is set In Ghur, one of the Mortal Realms in the Age of Sigmar. As part of the Stormcast Eternals, you'll have to work to save your Fortress settlement, Harkanibus, from siege from the Orruk Kruelboyz faction. The other factions in the game are the Disciples of Tzeentch and the Nighthaunt.
All four factions have their own unique features. The Stormcast Eternals are the most tactically balanced faction. As evidenced by their sieges and successes, the Orruk Kruleboyz are a cunning group. The Disciples are trained for ranged combat. Finally, the Nighthunt are known for swarming and mobility.
When it's time for multiplayer, there are 1v1 and 2v2 cross-platform multiplayer matches available. Rank up in 1v1 to make your mark. Battle over victory points and resource points around a variety of maps, build structures to help you progress through the tech tree and further your offensive or defensive strategies. Upgrading your faction's command post and getting higher in the tech tree will let you unlock new units and unit abilities.
Conquest mode is a solo experience that uses procedurally generated maps and introduces variables that impact your game, including something like increased unit speed. There are also customization options, including a map editor and Army Livery, which lets you customize color schemes for the faction, using actual official Warhammer paint colors.
