The Xiaomi 12 series could be going global in mid-March! Launched in China a few months ago, the Xiaomi 12 series is currently the company’s flagship smartphone range consisting of three models – Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X. Xiaomi has so far focused on launching its affordable Redmi Note 11 series devices in global markets, with the Note 11 Pro versions coming later this month to India. After that, it will shift its focus back to its flagship Xiaomi 12 series.
One of the recent leaks suggests that Xiaomi will announce the Xiaomi 12 series in Europe and other regions, with the possibility of an India announcement happening soon after. Previous leaks had already hinted at a late-March launch for the Xiaomi 12 devices in India. In accordance with global trends, Xiaomi will focus on the cameras particularly. All the three models have got upgraded camera sensors this year, with the Xiaomi 12 Pro being the most capable one.
The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and hence, could be two proper flagship-grade offerings for several markets, including India. The Xiaomi 12X uses the older and less capable Snapdragon 870 and it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi upgrades the chip in this to a newer Snapdragon chipset, or switches to MediaTek Dimensity power.
Since Xiaomi already has the Xiaomi 11T Pro in India and Europe, the possibility of the Xiaomi 12X making it to global markets seems less possible.
