With 10 main instalments and a small handful of spin-offs, the horror series is a tricky one to know where to start if you’re new to it all. Creator Scott Cawthon has been very busy this last decade.

The hype surrounding the franchise is set to grow further still when the film launches on 27 October and the latest game is due to release before the end of 2023. There’s never been a better time to be a fan of these horror games than right now.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise began back in 2014 and later this year we’re set to be playing its 10th mainline release already. If you’re brand-new to the horror game series, it’s recommended that you play them in release date order, just as everyone who has been playing from the start has been doing.
