The May update for Final Fantasy XI i s here, with the finale for the Voracious Resurgence storyline, refreshes, and several events in time for the 21st anniversary.
The Voracious Resurgence is coming to an end. The update adds the latest, and final, entry in the saga, Chapter 11 part 2. Several months ago it was announced that Chapter 11 and the finale would be split into two parts, and now it's here. If you've been sticking around since the beginning, now you get to see the story out and fight the final battle.
Back in March, Fujito was named the successor to longtime producer Akihiko Matsui. This was accompanied by an announcement on what the future will look like for the 21 year old game. The game continues with some development, but is moving into more of a maintenance mode with a smaller team. That team is focused on three main items: Ambuscade updates, Prime Weapon reforging, and Master Trials.
With this latest update comes the usual Ambuscade updates, with refreshes to the mobs in Normal and Intense.If you want to fight some Orcs and flies and walk away rewarded, those are the month’s challenges. The update also adds a new tier to Prime Weapon reforging.
There are also several events and returning campaigns to spend your time in. The game celebrated its 21st anniversary since the Japanese release on May 16th, so this month’s update is a little more robust.
A login campaign is on now through June 2nd, and you can receive points for logging to exchange for items, including this month's special item, the Ageist. The Adventure Gratitude Campaign is also currently running from now until July 3rd. You will be able to receive special items once per week to say thank you. The items include a ring, a Red Crab
