Update: As expected, the State of Play stream featured a good long look at new gameplay from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and saw the release of a demo for the game. The demo features the opening chapter of the game right now, but more content will be unlocked on 21st February.

Sony has leaked that a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo will be dropping today for PS5, most likely right after the State of Play stream dedicated to the game that is taking place tonight.
Found in the “Explore” section of the PS5 dashboard, the new trailer actually states that the FF7 Rebirth trailer is available right now, but this isn’t currently the case, with the video seemingly published in error.

The trailer was published at 4PM PT / 7PM ET / 12PM GMT, which is roughly the time that the State of Play stream is expected to end tonight, meaning that someone got muddled with their timezones and accidentally published the trailer a day early.
The trailer’s blurb reveals a little about what’s included:
“Experience the power of choice! The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is out now, allowing you to step into the shoes of either Cloud or Sephiroth during the Nibelheim episode. Uncover the opening chapter of the game’s story and explore the world map. Your adventure, your choice!”
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to release exclusively for PS5 on 29th February.
