Until April 7, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim the free horror movie The Mist for their digital libraries. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perks change regularly, and while they are mostly focused on giving away free content for live service games, sometimes they give away free movies as well.
In fact, multiple horror movies have been given away as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perks over the years, including one in the build-up to last year's Halloween. As Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers may recall, they had the opportunity to claim Texas Chainsaw 3D for free this past October. Now there's yet another free horror movie for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to claim, and one that is held in much higher regard than Texas Chainsaw 3D.
The Frank Darabont-directed horror movie The Mist, based on the Stephen King novella of the same name, is free right now for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Anyone interested in claiming the movie should do so by April 7. The film itself was well-received by critics, earning a 71% rating on RottenTomatoes, which is pretty impressive for horror movies, as they tend to struggle more with professional critics than other genres. The Mist has become even more popular since it first came out, as it features multiple actors who would go on to star in The Walking Dead and because its ending has left such an impression on people.

Eventually, the main character David, his son Billy, and a handful of other survivors attempt to flee in a vehicle.
Unfortunately, they run out of gas and find themselves stranded in the mist.
