Soon after showing off a new trailer announcing the release date for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Square Enix has revealed more details about the upcoming game in a series of posts made on social media platform X, including the fact that the game will feature 100 hours of gameplay.
According to a statement by creative director Tetsuya Nomura, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will take players from the party just leaving the city of Midgard to somewhere around the midpoint of the main story in the original Final Fantasy 7. Nomura describes Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as “an illustration of the incidents that started the journey, an exploration of the people tied to it, and the journey itself, heading towards its climax.”
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth‘s trailer focused quite a bit on showing off gameplay in the new zones that players will be able to explore outside of Midgard, along with giving us an idea of what we can expect from the game’s story. The trailer also showed off iconic locations from the original Final Fantasy 7, including the Gold Saucer.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to PS5 on February 29.
