Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s demo will get an update on February 21, one that will carry over into the full game. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the massive Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, which will span a full trilogy of games and has already expanded on the story and lore of the beloved 1997 PlayStation original a great deal in its first installment. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will pick up where 2020’s FF7 Remake left off, with Cloud Strife and his friends journeying beyond the city of Midgar to solve the mystery of Sephiroth and the Ancients.
A small taste of this sequel is already available in the free Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo, which launched earlier this month following an FF7 Rebirth-centric PlayStation State of Play livestream. The demo consists of Cloud’s flashback to the fall of Nibelheim, a tragedy that saw the once heroic Sephiroth become the murderous force that terrorizes the planet throughout the main Final Fantasy 7 storyline. However, reactions to the demo have been mixed so far, with many complaining about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s visuals when switching to Performance Mode.
Square Enix seems to be aware of this feedback, as an update patch for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s demo was just announced on the official Final Fantasy 7 Twitter page. This update will go live on February 21, and Square Enix says that it will apply improvements to the game’s Performance Mode graphical setting. Even better, these tweaks will carry over into the full Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth when it releases on February 29.
Graphical issues aside, many fans seem to be enjoying Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s demo, with some even posting videos that compare its version of the fabled Nibelheim incident and the one shown in the original Final Fantasy 7.
