In a surprising announcement, Ubisoft recently announced that Far Cry 6’s Joseph Seed: Collapse DLC would release on February 8. This appears to be good news for fans who have been following the DLC, as each features a secret ending that ties into some greater meta-story. Joseph Seed’s, as the last DLC, will likely feature a secret ending as big, if not bigger, than Vaas’ or Pagan Min’s DLC.
The reason that this Far Cry 6 news is so surprising is that it is releasing way earlier than intended (a month plus, as it was first set for March). Video game delays are nothing new, but releasing one much sooner than anticipated is practically unheard of and usually comes with a big reason. For example, Ubisoft did move up Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s release date to coincide with the Xbox Series X release, but that’s notably a recent—but also 2020—example.
Far Cry 6 DLC Adds Rambo to the Game
This poses the question of why Ubisoft is moving up Joseph Seed’s DLC release and if it’s as a good thing as it would seem at first. Ubisoft itself hasn’t revealed why the DLC was moved up from its March window to the very beginning of February, not even a full month after Pagan Min’s DLC was released.
The most likely, and the best reason, is that it finished with Joseph Seed ahead of schedule. It’s not exactly like Ubisoft reinvents the wheel with each of these DLCs, as mechanically they are all very similar—roguelikes, similar weapons, enemies, realms, and overarching goals. It could be that, thanks to Vaas and Pagan Min’s DLC release, Joseph Seed’s DLC had a few advantages in terms of developing its content.
In that case, this is pretty good for fans of the DLC run thus far. It means that they get to check out Joseph’s DLC and his secret ending
