The Legend of Zelda fans think that the latest Tears of the Kingdom trailer confirms a long-standing theory that Zelda has somehow been sent into the past.
Zelda fans are a pretty smart bunch. Just a few weeks ago, they managed to piece together most of Tears of the Kingdom's map after just 10 minutes of gameplay footage. Now, after Nintendo shared the third and final big trailer for the game, they're piecing together some pretty convincing theories - with the top one right now being that Princess Zelda is somehow stuck in the past.

There's a lot to digest in the latest trailer, but one thing that's made clear is that Zelda and Link are separated right at the start of the game. Although you might presume she's just somewhere in Hyrule, it seems more likely that she's travelled in time, as we see her dressed in a completely different outfit that looks more traditional. We also see her holding the Master Sword, which looks brand-new and undamaged, unlike the present-day one.
Over on the Zelda subreddit, fans are combing through the trailer to find more evidence that Zelda has time-travelled. For starters, Redditor lamotrig points out that Zelda can actually be seen with a golden glow as she falls away from Link and is clearly holding something in her first, which could be the tear that we later see her holding in a cutscene.
Redditor pacgabriel has a pretty interesting theory tied into Zelda being back in the past. They speculate that Zelda is sending Link messages through the damaged Master Sword by using the undamaged one that we see her hold at several points in the trailer. We actually saw a golden light speaking to Link in a brief bit of gameplay footage
