Even though the stories in base Pokemon games are pretty rinse and repeat, the characters remain one of the most popular aspects of any new game. While the archetypes and roles the characters play are incredibly similar in each entry, the designs and personality have always changed, and that's where we pick out our favourites. Silver is a rival just like any other, but he's my favourite because he's the meanest. Conversely, others like Hop and his boundless enthusiasm, where he's more of a buddy that tests you than a nemesis.
Nevertheless, each game has a fairly basic idea. You are the protagonist, and someone else begins their journey with you, selecting a starter alongside you and then fighting you at various key stages of your journey. In some games, a third or even fourth companion emerges as you continue through your journey, blurring the line further between friend and rival. As with anything in Pokemon (see Goodra as an example), people love to sexualise these companions, even if it's a bit iffy. To finally put the matter to bed then, I'm here to rank all of the Pokemon companions by how acceptable it is to sexualise them.
