Almost a decade after its original release on the Wii U, is receiving an enhanced re-release on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. As announced by Nintendo on X,the game will be receiving an enhanced port to the Nintendo Switch,, which is set to release on March 20, 2025. Notably, this marksas the last game to make its way to the Switch, meaning that, after its release, the entire series will be playable on the console. will also include a few new features, similar to the of the original .
The version of set for release in 2025 will be mostly similar to the 2015 original, with the most notable new features being graphical improvements and new story segments. While not much is currently known about the story additions, aside from a brief teaser at the end of the reveal trailer, it's likely that the new story will be similar to the epilogue that was added to on Switch.
Notably, however, March 2025 also marks the end of Nintendo's fiscal year, and as a result, is the latest month when Switch users can possibly expect the announcement of the company's next console. This could make one of the last major releases for the Switch, in addition to its status as one of the last major Wii U titles to receive a re-release on the console.
The announcement of comes as a welcome surprise for fans of the series, who may have assumed that the game would be indefinitely stuck on Wii U. On X and Reddit, fan response has been largely positive, with many players surprised by the sudden announcement and speculating over the short teaser shown at the end of the trailer, which seems to directly follow the last scene of the original game.
