Bruno’s magical room underwent a series of subtle changes over time, according to Encanto director Jared Bush. In November 2021, Disney released the animated picture set in Colombia. Encanto has already won a slew of entertainment awards and topped the music charts with songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Encanto follows the Madrigal family and their quest to save their magical Casita.
Each member of the Madrigal family, with the exception of Mirabel, is given a magical gift and uniquely themed room that corresponds with their power. Unfortunately, the audience is only shown the interior of a few of the characters’ rooms. The movie does feature Antonio’s jungle bedroom, which has accommodations for his animals, and Isabela's botanical room with an ever-changing floral landscape. These beautiful locations are a stark contrast to the only other bedroom shown, Bruno’s. His area is a desolate space filled with sand and a giant staircase leading to an empty meditation chamber.

Bruno's room plays a pivotal role in Mirabel's journey to save their Casita. During the sequence, Mirabel physically struggles to reach the top of the room due to the seemingly never-ending stairway. The tiring walkway may seem like another misfortunate hand dealt to Bruno but Encanto’s director has revealed that this is not necessarily the case. In a Q&A session on Twitter, Bush explained that Bruno’s room once contained a much smaller stairway but that it expanded as he grew older.
