Elizabeth Olsen Joins Cast of Panic Carefully Thriller With Julia Roberts

Panic Carefully is a new thriller movie that is being directed by Sam Esmail for Warner Bros. Pictures. It will star Julia Roberts, who previously worked on Esmail on 2023’s Leave the World Behind.
Per Deadline, Olsen has now joined the cast of Panic Carefully alongside Roberts.
Olsen is best known for playing Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She will soon return to voice the character in the animated Marvel Zombies series, which premieres in 2025.
Olsen recently starred in 2023’s His Three Daughters alongside Carrie Coon and Natasha Lyonne. She’ll soon be seen in Fleur Fortuné’s The Assessment, which held its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024.
Her filmography also includes 2013’s Oldboy, 2014’s Very Good Girls, 2014’s Godzilla, 2017’s Ingrid Goes West, 2017’s Wind River, and more.
Plot details for Panic Carefully are being kept under wraps at this time; although, Deadline describes it as being in the same vein as the Mr. Robot series (which was created by Esmail) and 1991’s The Silence of the Lambs.
“The project went out to assorted studios and streamers near the top of this year, with Warner Bros prevailing in a heated bidding war, in part due to its commitment to a theatrical run,” Deadline’s article also notes.
Esmail and Chad Hamilton are producing the movie for Email Corp. alongside Scott Stuber, Roberts, Marisa Yeres Gill, and Lisa Gillan. Along with Leave the World Behind, Esmail made 2014’s Comet starring Justin Long and worked on Amazon Prime Video’s Homecoming series, which saw Roberts play Heidi Bergman in the first season.
Production on Panic Carefully is expected to begin in January 2025 in England. A release date has not yet been set.
