The Elder Scrolls Online is heading into overdrive preparing for the arrival of the Necrom chapter next month. There’s a new Necrom trailer featuring Hermaeus Mora hinting at some of what’s to come, and a new zone preview for the Telvanni Peninsula, the city of Necrom, and Mora’s realm itself, centered on Apocrypha, and a new area, Chroma Incognito.
These recent releases have begun the ramp up to this next upcoming huge development in the Shadow Over Morrowind arc. The new trailer is the biggest hint at some of what to expect, and it also adds additional context to the ESO team’s recent focus on Hermaeus Mora. In the trailer, he says “My library contains enough knowledge to encompass 100,000 lifetimes. And with that knowledge comes immense power”. Uh oh.
Mora says that he’ll let you have a fraction of that knowledge (and power) if you “help avert the fate I have foreseen”. This ominous statement (and offer), is made while the threat is illustrated with scenes from the upcoming release. The Daedric threat looks like it might just be all-consuming. Tempting.
A new zone preview details the Telvanni Peninsula, the city of Necrom itself, and Apocrypha. This preview tells some of how the history of the Dark Elves and their ancestral worship led to the development of the region. The city has an independence, despite its significance (and because of it) to the Dark Elves and the religious traditions that even the Great Houses observe. For its part, Apocrypha is a Daedric realm and it is itself the dominion of Hermaus Mora. All that knowledge and power is contested, with many, both mortals and Daedra, wanting to gain control over it.
Chroma Incognito is also featured in the preview, as it is not just part of the exploration
