D3 has confirmed it'll be bringing Earth Defense Force 6 to Western shores on PS5, PS4 from 24th July 2024, just shy of two years after its original Japanese release. A tongue-in-cheek news bulletin trailer has been posted online to mark the update and pre-orders are live on the PS Store now. The release date means EDF fans are in for quite the summer since Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is also slated to arrive on PS5, PS4 on 26th September 2024.
The base version is priced at £49.99 / $59.99 while the Deluxe Edition — which includes a season pass — will be £74.99 / $89.99, though both versions offer a 10 per cent discount for PS Plus members. If you do pre-order, you'll gain access to the game 24 hours early.
Sporting the most missions and weapons in EDF history, the sixth mainline entry supports single player play as well as a split-screen setting offline and four-player co-op online. «The year is 2024 AD. Mankind has won the long battle against the unknown invaders. The enemy Primers are now gone and peace has returned to Mother Earth,» the official plot setup reveals.
«However, the population has shrunk to 10% and the world was on the verge of collapse. The survivors fought against the remaining threats while trying their best to continue their recovery. Three years passed in the year 2027. In a new world without hope, the time has come to once again resist the fate of the Earth.» Shall you be signing up for another EDF excursion this summer?
