Afterteasing in an interview this week, it’s official. Bill Skarsgård is back as Pennywise the Clown in the IT TV series Welcome to Derry.
Skarsgård will reunite with other key figures from the It film franchise, the two movies’ director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti and Chapter Twoco-producer Jason Fuchs, who developed together the TV adaptation of the Stephen King horror classic, as well as the films’ other producers, Roy Lee and Dan Lin. Andy Muschietti is set to direct four episodes of the nine-episode series.
Earlier this week, Bill Skarsgård was coy when discussing reprising the role again, but both he and Muschietti just so happened to be heading to Toronto at the same time to film something. It’s where the IT movies were filmed, and Skarsgård had said about his sojourn to Toronto, ”I don’t want to spoil it.”
